DR. Hannes Meissner
MANAGING PARTNER
Hannes is an internationally recognized expert on political risk analysis and management with a long history in business consulting. With roots in Political Science, he has had a major stake in developing innovative hands-on business approaches, tailoring interdisciplinary models to the requirements of enterprises operating in complex and risky country environments. His country expertise first and foremost relates to the post-Soviet space – a region that he has travelled extensively due to both business projects and scientific field research. Hannes regularly gives talks on political risk, most recently at the Chinese Economic Summit in Hong Kong, the Astana International Financial Centre, the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna, the Netherlands Institute of International Relations Clingendael and the University of Cambridge. Hannes supports parties with expert opinions on country risks for investors in national court and international arbitration proceedings, as most recently at the ICSID in Washington.
In 2012, Hannes was awarded a PhD in political science with distinction “magna cum laude” by the University of Hamburg. During his PhD Studies (2007-2012) on the resource course, energy politics and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) with field research in Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, he took part in the research program “Violence and Security” of the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and the PhD program “Informal networks, corruption and political regimes” of the Research Centre for East European Studies at the University of Bremen. In 2008, he was granted a three-year full scholarship by the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation, financed by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
